This panic refers to an i2c error. Specifically i2c0. I2c is an electronics protocol which is used for inter chip communications. In the same device there may be several different i2c groups. In the XS Max, and most others iPhones, i2c0 includes some of the most fundamental components, most notably battery data is transmitted on this channel.

So new battery would be the first thing I might try. I would even double check the battery health option in battery settings to see if it’s reading that the battery needs Service.

We may also be able to get more information about the exact error with a bit more of the panic file.

It would be better if you can add additional info from the panic string data. You can however check here to see all panic string data and their interpretation. Check bus status, I'm thinking it should be charging connector flex. One of the first prerequisite to try, test an OEM charging connector flex and see if it works.
