Hello, I put an older tv in the garage, a 65" RCA smart TV Virtuoso which works fine in the summer days but when the temperature drops to like 65F or lower I get a lot of horizontal lines going up and down that I cannot see the image anymore. When the weather warms up it's fine again. Could it be the t-con board???

@homie_2022 sorry but no. Horizontal lines are pretty much always caused by the LCD driver board (mounted pretty permanently to the LCD) or in a very few instances by the main board. You can try and spray some freeze spray on your mainboard and see if that makes the symptoms re-appear . if so you know its your mainboard. The only other thing I would check are the LVDS ribbon cables. Make sure that they are all properly seated and that the connector are properly soldered to the board i.e. main board and T-con board. Do a quick reflow of the connectors and see if that helps.

Thank you, the cold spray is a cool idea and I'll try it on a nice warm day and I hope the symptoms will come back. If they do I'll shop around for the right motherboard. Thanks again 👍👊

The issue is definitely one of the boards that cannot handle a tiny drop in temperature. If the temperature in the garage drops below 80F the lines gradually appear. I direct a small heater behind the TV and the lines go away. Any weather above 80F and the TV works perfectly fine. Somebody had replied that one way to check which board is to remove the back cover, turn it on when either the indoor or outdoor temperature is above 80F and spray keyboard cleaner which is cold on one board at a time. That should tell you which board is faulty. I haven't had a chance to do that yet.
