Why is my phone turn on and then turned off

Device Samsung Note 5 doesnt turn on by the power button . Boot into recovery mode by Press volume up, Menu / Home and Power button together and reboot system. Phone turned on completely, but battery bar shows 0% even though I put a new battery and plugged in a charger, then after few seconds the device immediately shuts off. If anyone can help what the problem is.Will the factory reset/wipe data help to resolve the situation ? did not want to factory reset because I have information I want to save.
