Replacing the glass only on a Tab S6 Lite

My husband is looking to repair the glass screen on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Touches and the pen still work, so we're assuming we don't have to replace the LCD? My main concern is ensuring the pen will still work after the repair is complete. As IFixIt does not sell it, we purchased a glass only screen replacement from a third party. He already owns the Pro Tech Toolkit and we just ordered an iOpener Kit and glue. I wasn't sure what glue to get, since so many videos simply state “adhesive” without actually saying what kind, so we ordered this… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09B63HS12/ref...

So here are my questions.

  1. Since this will be his first screen repair, any tips? He is watching as many videos on YouTube as possible right now, but the tutorials for my specific tablet are far and few between with no English subtitles.
  2. Is the glue we purchased going to work? I'm seriously struggling trying to research what adhesive to use. I am very concerned about the S pen functions still working after the repair, as previously mentioned.

Did you try the fix yet? Did it work? I am looking to try the same thing to avoid buying a whole new LCD Display.

Not a feasible repair for DIY. The digitizer and glass are laminated to the LCD with LOCA glue, unless you have the proper equipment for screen separation, LOCA glue cleaning, and re-lamination, then you will 100% damage the LCD. The entire assembly is $65 on mobilesentrix, call around and see if a local shop will order it for you.

The questions you are asking suggest you are less than professional and you've bought the glass only, no digitizer etc. No problem.

Know this, removing the digitizer from the glass (or vice a versa) is not recommended without considerable expertise (technique) and gear. The glass is VERY well adhered to the digitizer. Removing it without damaging the digitizer is much less than trivial. The real problem, however, is adhering the new glass back onto the old digitizer. It typically requires a vacuum sealer to get the job done right.

My advice … if you don't have the tools - don't do the job. Pay the extra $30 and get the complete screen w/digitizer replacement. Trust me, your marriage will be much happier. 😬

Bon Suerta.
