My computer won’t turn on

When I press the power button on my computer the light turns on, but nothing happens to my computer. When I plug in the charger, the charging light is also turned on. How do I fix this?

Hi,

Try a power refresh and check if this resolves the problem.

i). Disconnect the charger from the laptop (if connected).

ii). Remove the back cover from the laptop.

iii). Disconnect the battery from the motherboard. You don’t have to remove the battery, simply disconnect it.

Here’s the ifixit Lenovo IdeaPad 530S-14IKB Display Tausch that will help. Step.2 shows what to do. Just be gentle and don’t pull too hard especially on the wires, and try not to touch anything else on the motherboard as the battery is still supplying power to various sections (until it is disconnected). Also you don’t want to cause any ESD damage to the components if you accidentally touch them, so wear a wrist strap connected to an earth point in the room.

iv). Press and hold the laptop’s Power On button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

v). Reconnect the battery, re-assemble the laptop, connect the charger and try turning it on.

If it turns on there may be a message regarding the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset back to its factory default settings. Once the date and time have been corrected the message won’t appear the next time the laptop is started. Also if you have changed any settings in BIOS to suit your particular operating requirements, they will have to be changed back again to what you want
