My car used to kick when switching gears usually from 1st to 2nd gear and then to 3rd. But now my check engine light turned on, maintenance light blinks and the d4 light blinks. The gears are now kicking way harder and it’s taking more time to change them. Also when I put it in reverse the car doesn’t reverse it just feels like I’m revving the engine. Any help?

Comment by jayeff is good. The symptoms described are consistent with a transmission problem, especially if an ODBII scan reveals transmission related codes. Concur with checking the transmission fluid. However, if the transmission has been driven with low or overly dirty fluid for some time, damage could have occurred. You may need to get this evaluated by a mechanic who specializes in transmissions.

Hi @imtide
Get the OBDII port scanned for any codes. The Check engine light is telling you that there is a problem. Places like AutoZone etc do it for free in the USA.
Also when was the last time you checked the transmission fluid to see if the level is OK or if it needs to be changed etc? Does it smell burnt?
