Is this laser compatible

Went to play a game on my ps3 a good few months ago and it started to make lots of noise and wouldn't load the disc. I took it apart and cleaned it. It worked for a couple of days then it went again. So did the same and same thing happened. Had a super slim sitting so decided to use that instead. Went to try and see exactly what was wrong with my slim last night. Noticed it's just the blu ray laser not working as it reads cd's. Mine has the KEM-450 BAA laser but when looking online the only 1 I can really find is the KEM-450 AAA. Will this still work?

Hello,

I have looked around a lot of other forums as well as on ifixit. From what I have read most people who have switched out their BAA to an AAA have not seen any issues. I would take this with a grain of salt because I could not find any documentation from Sony stating anything regarding the BAA to AAA swap.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I am just going to have to try it as I can not find the BAA laser anywhere. Once I get it I will post again to say if it's worked for me

@craigyg93 Has it worked? I'm in the same situation needing to replace a BAA laser.

@kouya I tried it out today finally and it seems to work fine. I have other ps3's so didn't mind waiting to sort it out.
