If it behaves the same with the new and the old battery, it could be on its last legs, I'm guessing. The self-diagnostic mode, is that a button on your Roomba or are you using the iRobot app?
Sounds like it’s time for a replacement battery. The original manufacturer’s batteries are rather pricey, but you can find good aftermarket batteries on Amazon, for example.

I tried to trigger self-diagnostic - it doesn’t work either
