Where is the Bluetooth circuit located in a Galaxy S20?

My Galaxy S20 bluetooth turns off intermittently. Samsung says the Bluetooth needs to be replaced. Is the Bluetooth circuit on the mainboard?

Hi,

Have you or did Samsung say that they, proved it is a hardware problem?

If not, maybe try the following to eliminate software as the cause. Also as it is an intermittent problem allow a bit of time to make sure whether or not the problem is still there after trying each of the below.

i) Wipe the cache partition and check if it then works OK.

ii). Start the phone in safe mode and check if it works OK. If it does then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one. You will need to uninstall each downloaded app, one by one and test the phone in normal mode between each uninstall. When it works OK then the last downloaded app that was uninstalled was the culprit. A downloaded app is one that you downloaded and installed on the phone and wasn’t pre-installed when you first got it.

iii). If the above do not fix it, then you may have to consider a factory reset (aka hard reset) for the phone.

Note: Be aware that a factory reset will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the phone to its factory default condition (or last system updated condition). Back up your phone to the cloud or a computer before performing a factory reset. If the hard reset works you should be able to restore it with the backup by using the restore feature in the phone settings. If the phone has a Google account you will need to remember the account user name and password to access the phone again once it has been reset, due to the FRP lock that it activated by the reset.

If all the above do not resolve the problem then it is a hardware problem. Not sure where the BT chip is but in a lot of phones it is incorporated with the WiFi in the one IC chip as they both share the same antenna.

It is definitely a hardware problem. I did all of those steps and have verified with the Samsung technical support that it is a hardware issue.

Hi,

Is the WiFi working OK?

Just asking because usually the BT and the WiFi are contained in the same IC chip on the board. As they both operate on the same 2.4GHz frequency they can use the same antenna.

The antenna is normally placed closed to the IC as you don't want to lose signal strength or increase interference to the signal.

I can't find a schematic or a board layout which would tell you what the make and model information of the chip is to make it possible to find in the phone.
