Replacement screen is black with no apparent connector damage

Repair went fairly well until I connected the display cable and tested the screen. The phone is on and responsive to the power button, but the screen is black and, as far as I can tell, unresponsive and black.

Is there a software or hardware issue?

Re-did the connection and held the power button down until the screen turned on.
