Toshiba 55" Smart Ultra HD 4K television - No picture, only sound
Hi. I bought a toshiba tv in 2019. When I switch it on, there is only sound, no picture. I did the “flashlight” trick and can see images/silhouettes. Could this be a backlight system failure and how do I repair it please? Thanks
It is most likely a backlight issue. There can be a number of things at fault, so you will need to remove the back cover of your TV and measure some voltages. Be careful when remove the back cover as the capacitors can still be charged and can give you a fatal electrical shock. Unplug the TV first and leave it for an hour at least to make sure the caps are discharged before touching anything.
What is the TVs model number?
You can have an issue with your power supply board not producing the correct driver voltage for the backlight, or have a backlight driver fault or simply a few dead LEDs on the actual backlight strips.
