Snapped Antenna Prong. Will It effect me?

Hi there guys, recently after droping my phone and replacing the battery I found that the bottom gold grounding prong is snapped at the wing and no longer touching the bezel. While I still have full signal using 3g I am worried if this will have any effect on me. Could somebody please explain what i could do in this situation and if i need to do it. Currently the iphone is charging and my signal seems to be fine. Will this be a problem as there is a few millimetres between the broken prong and the bezel.

If so what can i do to fix it and where can i get the prong if i need a new one.

It will most likely affect battery life..your phone works too hard to keep a good 3g signal so uses up battery. If that prong is attached to your board you can just try and push the tip under the bezel. (I give a light push on the board near sticker (do not remove) which gives a little more room to push tip across and under. It can easily be resoldered on if it comes off, just make sure both prong and board are clean for a good join.

Hi there, The prong has snapped in half so i cannot make it reach the bezel. What do you reccomend i do? solder something to the snapped end so it can reach the bezel ? or do something else?

i also have this issue, part of the prong has snapped off and does not reach the bezel, can it be resoldered back on (i have the piece) or can i solder a different piece to it i.e the small clip that holds the camera in place?

Wow! This was a long time ago! Got the email reply today and was like uhhh what? Anyway, I do not own this phone anymore however I can help you. Both options you asked will work. You can solder the original back on so it connects to the bezel or in my case solder some copper wire on to the frame and prong to provide a connection. Hope this helps you out and good luck!

Hi billy, Thanks fo rthe reply, I havent trired the fix yet as i have been busy with work but i shall be trying it within the next few days. Thanks for getting back to me seen as the original post was back in 2011.
