Face ID is not recognizing my face and power button sometimes work

I bought this iPhone XS from someone and he didn’t tell me that it has liquid damage. Everything on the phone worked fine and I decided to open the phone to see what’s wrong with it. The iPhone have red water indicators on the screen and after putting 50% ISP on the infrared light and clean the charging port cable the power button some times wouldn’t work and it only works when I press it with the lower volume button. After cleaning the charging port cable that I thought was the power port cable the phone would not power on and when I connected it to the charger it says connect to iTunes for resetting. I think the phone had a little water damage because I couldn’t hardly see any corrosion and the screen is working fine. Only front camera portrait mode, face ID, and the power button are the only once not working. Power button some times work and some times not working. Any help on how to make the Face ID and the power button work would be apricated

If the Face ID will not function make sure the cables are correctly seated. If it still doesn’t work then you have a damaged Face ID module and it won’t work again unless you take it to Apple for Out of Warranty Repair. I don’t know about the power button but if thats not seated properly either then it may be a logic board issue. And most of the time you need to use a microscope to see if it is or not.

Hey zeal the Face ID cable is working but it keeps saying move the iPhone a little higher and a little lower the whole time. As for the power button some times it works fine and some time no response until a few minutes where the phone then recognized that I presssd the button and then do the command by locking the screen when am using it. Also what do you mean by seated because I put them back right.

Hi, if it says to move it higher or lower than you have broken the Face ID module and more specifically the Face ID sensor. Theres no way yet to replace or fix it so I would take it to Apple for Out of Warranty Repair if you still want it. Maybe try to tighten or loosen the screws holding in the power button otherwise I would just get those replaced to solve the issue.

Hey Zeal. I used IPA on the power button and cleaned the right cable for it and its working now with no problem, but the Face ID had liquid going into it which makes it not working like many others said when salt water got in to their phones in iFixit forms. Most people said that they cleaned the Face ID sensor with 99% iPA and it worked but I don't have one at the moment and not experienced enough to clean at the moment. Also I checked the module and it was not broken because I was the first one to get inside the phone and the problem occurred before I opened the phone.
