clothes wet after spin cycle, spin cycle seems "broken"

Hi,

My Maytag washer is leaving the clothes pretty wet (have to ring them out before putting in dryer). I took a video to show what happens when I put it run the Drain and Spin cycle: https://vimeo.com/471749379 (which still leaves them pretty wet) Anyone know what could be the culprit, especially based on the noise it’s making?

Thanks in advance,

Jonas

@jonascox not impressed with the spin speed and that noise seems to be unusual as well. Could be transmission clutch issue. Let us know what you have checked and verify that this is a MVWB765FW

Update (10/24/2020)

@jonascox if you would have a blockage then it would do that during any drain cycle, which it does not. It just does not spin enough and thus leaves your laundry wet. Good thing you already checked the drain etc. Have you had a chance to take a look at the motor etc. or have you disassembled anything yet? If so post some good pictures with your QUESTION. iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法

In the meantime let me check the manual :-)

@jonascox here is the tech sheet for your washer.W10240504 Run the diagnostics and see if it pops an error code.

I wonder if the noise originates from the hub underneath the washplate. You would have to remove it and see if the teeth have ground down. You can replace the hub.

This is the splutch kit that most likely is the culprit. This video should be very similar to your washer

Thanks oldturkey03, I don't know anything about washers, but that sound was concerning me. The model # is MVWX655DW0

I did pull out the inner bin and found some coins blocking it. But there didn't seem to be much blockage in the hose or couplings. I was hoping to find that a sock was causing the issue, but no such luck.

Thanks, I'm exhausted from what I've done already, and by the mere prospect of what you suggest I should now try, LOL. But I will take a look...

@jonascox I get it. Diagnostic and repair of washers and dryers is by no means an easy thing and always a PITA. Take your time. We'll be here to assist at anytime. Hopefully the nearest laundromat is not to far away :-)

The most likely culprit for a washer that spins but still turns out soaked clothing is a drain hose problem. ... Often with this issue, whatever is causing it to not drain during the spin cycle means the water isn't draining off fast enough and is essentially flowing back into the washer drum, re-soaking your clothing.

Thanks for the reply, mayer. Taking your advice, I opened the washer, removed the impeller, and pulled the inner tub out. There was standing water in the bottom of the outer tub. I removed and cleaned all hoses, and there didn't seem to be too much blockage. Then, turning back to the outer tub, I did notice that there were several coins in the drainage slots, so that might have caused the water back up. BUT new question: after I removed the coins from the outer tub, I picked it up to re-install it, and noticed that there is water sloshing around inside its walls. Is that an issue I need to address before re-assembling everything?

Thanks again,

Jonas
