Yes, you need to push the little tabs on the sides up if when you put a flash or accessory on it’s lose.

im asking how to tighten the screws that are on top of the camera for the flash. The screws are lose and need to be tighten i just cant figure out how to tighten them as the sides are in the way.

Could you post a picture
just google top of a6500. Its not the flash but the hot show mount for external flashes. Mine has came loose due to the screws falling out.
Theron did you ever sort this issue? Have the same problem and can't seem to get the 2 little screws out under the first cover of the hot shoe on my a6500
