proximity sensor does not work with genuine screen from ifixit

Cracked the digitizer on this phone.

Ordered the genuine screen from ifixit and it works great. However, the new screen does not allow the proximity sensor to work. Swapping the old screen back (cracked though it may be) allows the proximity sensor to work.

I was able to use this (https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...) on the play store for about a week and it would make it work by doing custom calibration things, but now no custom calibration works. Did I get a bad screen from ifixit/motorola or is there something I’m missing? The window in the glass is free of obstructions where it sits over the proximity sensor in the chassis.
