The Salter model 1036 is a digital disc kitchen scale with a maximum capacity of 5 kg or 11 lb.

What can cause the scale to measure everything twice the weight?

I have a Salter 1036 BKSSDR scales and it has developed a fault where all its measurements as twice what is expected.

Any ideas what can cause this?

Also, how do you dismantle the scales? I cannot find any external screws.

Hi,

Try recalibrating the scales as suggested by the 3rd and 4th answers in this link.

The 2nd answer describes how to open the scales.

The 1st answer says that there is a 15 year manufacturer’s guarantee on the product.

Choose the answer that suits you best, although if you open it the guarantee may become void and will not be accepted by the manufacturer

The LCD screen keeps showing OUT2 error code

This is perfect. The 4th answer about how to recalibrate the scales did exactly what I wanted. Note that I needed a 5kg reference weight which I made by filling water into a large pot (and using second set of scales).

Now I still might want to dismantle the device since the on-zero-off button doesn't seem to tare any more.
