Hi!

Can you test with a known working battery?

Looks like the battery can’t hold any charge and needs to be replaced!

I tried replacing my battery and it didn't fix anything. What would be the next step? I've already replaced the flex cable to the usb port and led module.

Hmm, the port should be good as it charges when attached to the cable. Did it gave the same fault with the new battery? How does the motherboard look, all good?

I am also having the same problem after replacing the battery, flex cables and usb port. It still won't show any lights when not plugged in? Motherboard looks okay from what I can tell but I'm not very experienced so any advice on what to check would be greatly appreciated!

Did you end up figuring it out? I have the same issue. Seems like every controller I try to repair has this same issue when I'm done!

Hello.

Most of the time the culprit is the charging chip. I have 2 controllers behaving the same way. They light up as if they are charging but no power goes to the battery.

If you have another controller, drain its battery completely, remove and install it in the faulty controller. Allow it to charge for some some time and return it to its origin controller and try to power it on. It won't work.

Changing the charge IC is doable but it is a high-skilled task.

Hope it helped.

Does anyone know if this could be down to an IC Chip on the board. Unfortunately I don’t own anything to attempt a swap currently as I have one with the same issue. Also a novice at soldering and repairs.

If it is the battery management IC then it would likely be the one marked BD92001 which requires a hot-air/infrared rework station to remove and replace it.

Here's a vendor with the chip which I recently ordered from: https://www.zedlabz.com/products/replace...

Note: the part is a QFN and has a big ground pad underneath it so using a common soldering iron just won't be sufficient. If you don't have a rework station (or reflow oven) then seek a skilled technician that does. The repair only takes about 15 minutes to do.
