iMac 27" 2011 secondary heatsink running high & is hard to cool

In my 2011 27” the secondary heat sink to the power supply is running 20˚C hotter than the primary and the proximity sensor, and even with specific and detailed control of the air flow with TG Pro is very hard to cool.

WHY this specific heatsink’s higher temperature?

And where is it placed on the board? I have not been able to locate its position.

Since it’s to do with transporting heat away from the power supply, I assume it has nothing to do with thermal paste?

UPDATE

Requested image of heat sensor output from TG Pro

The heat sink in question is the power supply heat sink.

Can you post a screenshot of TG Pro so we can see what you are seeing iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法

Can you point us to the heat sink you are thinking of as well posting an image of it

Ah! I get it, the power supply heat sinks! To be honest I haven’t made an effort to monitor it. I’m more concerned with the logic board sensors.

Sadly, Apple doesn’t offer any details within the power supply so we can’t identify which heat sink the sensor refers to.

There is no fan’s on the power supply its dependent on the chimney effect of the systems design. My own 27” also shows a high temp as well.

Thank you for your reply. But it does nor answer the question of IF there is something to do about it.

TG Pro has a lot of settings to fiddle with. Incremental rise in fan speed to correspond with increased workload seems functional, but to my mind it would help a lot to understand the WHY of all of the sensors - and here the visuality of the TG Pro helps to backwards ingeneer the functions of the three fans. No straight answers, but a feeling about MY machine and how I use it.

@kenneth krabat - The power supply power transistors is just some of the parts that just gets crazy hot inside. There is really nothing anything you can do to alter that directly. Keeping your system clean of dust buildup inside and making sure the bottom and top vents are not blocked is what I recommend.

If you want more info why don't you drop a line to TunaBellySoftware to see if they have anything more.
