Replacement screen not flush, some discolouring

I’ve recently followed the guide for replacing the screen of my iPhone 8 after purchasing the part from IFixit. I used the adhesive as well after fully cleaning out the old stuff and the replacement screen now sits not flush with the body of the phone, about 1-2mm of a ridge. Is this normal for the part?

also when I push down to the right of the home button, a small section of the lower right screen changes colour until I let go, how can I look at stopping this?

I have this same issue. Adhesive is perfect, cables are out of the way, no screws are out of place and I don’t have any discoloring but my screen is not flush. It clicked all the way in except for that small bit all the way around. I applied heat for a long time to try and loosen the adhesive to make it easier to close but still nothing. I’ve pressed as hard as I could and it will not go down. It’s as if it’s supposed to have that small ridge.

Is your backhousing bent? it is not normal that there is a small gap. all the flex cables are at the right spot?

The back casing is straight, it’s almost like something is pushing back against the screen from underneath, at a guess where the discolouring comes when I push down. The whole screen also isn’t flush and there is a ridge, is this due to the adhesive I applied or are these screens just a bit thicker?

aftermarket screens are thicker but a small gap is not normal. Nothing under the screen, maybe small screw?
