Screen replacement needs calibration

Several iPhone 8 Plus problems with replacement screen not functioning correctly has been diagnosed as needing impossible-to-get Apple Calibration. This makes replacing a cracked screen problematic. Is this a common problem making the $80 new screen just not worth it?

What calibration are you referring to? Calibration to maintain true tone?

Okay, I never heard of True Tone, so it is probably that. Several posts for iPhone 8 mentioned that new screens lacked proper functioning when replaced with a stock screen. Reply was essentailly this can only be corrected with a calibration device only Apple possessed and the only way to fix it in the wild was to switch out screens until one matched and did not need calibration.
