Screwdriver for Philips M1.2x2 screw?

Hi there,

My LCD screen on the XPS 13 9300 got damaged and I am looking to get a replacement for Dell. The screen replacement process seems easy enough so I thought I could do the re-assembly myself and save on labour cost (plus with the current situation, it’s kinda difficult to obtain service anyway.

There are three screws, however, which seem to be Philips type screws measuring 1.2mm in diameter. It is listed here: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/sg/... as the “Display-assembly cable holder”.

May I know which Philips screwdriver would be most appropriate for this? I saw that there are #000 and #00 out there but they seem to be for 1.5mm and 2mm heads? Would like to avoid stripping the screw if possible (the user guide already adds a caution to avoid torquing the screw too much—I’m guessing it’s a really fragile screw).

Hi Reuben,

Where did you order a replacement screen for your Dell XPS 13?

I can’t find any good website.

Hi @trenzterra ,

Here’s a link that may help.

I think that a PH00 would be OK to use for 1.2mm when you look at the point size

Thanks! I am slightly confused though. The #00 seems to have several shank diameters from 1.2mm to 2mm. Why is this so?

@trenzterra ,

I assume that this is the sizes that this manufacturer makes for their driver "bits".

It may be that they might be sized if the screws are to be recessed in a slot and you need the bit diameter to be correct to fit into the slot.The diameter of the shank may differ but the point size is always the same PH00

This is just a a guess on my part though.

I've always gone for the point size as this is what fits into the screwhead., so perhaps PH0 might do as well

I see. Thanks so much! Will try a PH00 first.
