Why wont recordings show up on pc, sound is there but no pic
Recordings shows up in screen of Zi8, but when plugged into my computer the only thing I get is a blank screen and my voice

Try removing and reading your SD card with a cheap USB to SD card reader (bestbuy or walmart should be less that $20). You should be able to browse the files and find files named <date/time stamp>.mp4 or something like. After seeing the very comical looking USB port on this thing I would suspect that is your point of failure. But this should at least allow you to the files. If you are able to recover/view the full video files this way I expect that is proof that the USB interface of your recorder is damaged …. don’t know how to fix though.

Thanks for your help but that did not work. This was given to me as a gift so now I just will have to spend a few buck and buy another. Not being to computer savvy about doing this I am just going to get the simplest and easiest point and shoot . Just want to plug UBS port from camera and put in folder not great thing. But again thank you very much for the time to answer my question.
