Apple Watch screen swapping with locked AWS3 screen unsuccessful.

Hello IFIXIT team. I recently purchased a repair kit from you guys to help me take the screen off a family members activation locked Apple Watch series 3 LTE onto my Apple Watch series 3 LTE that had a broken screen. When I plugged the “new” screen into my Apple Watch, no display activates. Im wondering fi there are some chips in these screens that prevent them from being swapped like that? Thank you!
