My turning signals are not working

When I go to hit the lever to turn on my turning signal going left or right it does not show up on my dash. but my headlights are working fine and when I click my emergency lights on it shows up on my dash. But when I click it down to make a left turn or a right turn the green arrows do not pop up on the dash. I don't know what to do I checked the fuse. Make sure there was no wires loose. I don't know what else to do. Can someone help?

@annacolorado that is going to be tricky. Check the light bulbs and it is possible that this is actually your blinker arm. This is going to be difficult to figure out. Of hand I can tell you that your JK does not use any relays etc. for the indicator (blinker). From teh serviice manual “The SCM monitors a hard wired multiplex input from the left multi-function switch to determine the status of the turn signal switch, then sends the appropriate electronic turn signal switch status messages to the EMIC over the LIN data bus. Then the EMIC relays an electronic turn signal request message to the TIPM over the CAN data bus. The TIPM responds to these messages by controlling a battery voltage output and the flash rate for either the right or left turn signal lamps through high side drivers on the appropriate right or left turn signal feed circuits. The TIPM also sends the appropriate electronic messages back to the EMIC to control the illumination and flash rate of the right or left turn signal indicators, as well as to control the click rate of an electromechanical relay soldered onto the EMIC electronic circuit board that emulates the sound emitted by a conventional turn signal flasher.”

What you could try is to see if you can access your Jeep’s DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) codes by doing the following:

1. Insert your key into the ignition, turn it to the ‘ON’ position but do not start the engine. Then, push the key into the ignition cylinder and while holding it in, turn it to the ‘OFF’ position and then back to the ‘ON’ position (3) times straight making sure to end with it in the ‘ON’ position. It is important to keep pushing in on the key to prevent it from catching at the different positions along the way.

2. If you do step #1 correctly, all your dash lights will illuminate and your odometer will show up as a series of (6) dashes as shown in the pic to the left. If your Jeep JK Wrangler has any logged in any DTC’s, they will be displayed soon after the dashes appear. Write down the DTC(s) and check it/them against the list below to find out what they mean.

3. If your Jeep JK Wrangler has not logged in any DTC’s, the dashes on your odometer will be followed by the message ‘-done-’. Turn your key to the ‘OFF’ position and you will in fact be done.

If you see any codes popping up, write them down and let us know. Not all codes will show you really need to consider having your Jeep scanned for any error.
