Safe mode boot cycle

Hi All,

I’ve been attempting to fix my friends PS pro (UK version) which stopped working last week and would only boot into safe mode by inserting a disc. In safe mode none of the options appeared to work such as rebuilding database and reinitialise internally or externally via USB install. I removed the HDD and ran a sweep on HDsentinel and the drive has a number of corrupt / damaged sectors.

I’ve ordered an installed a new HDD, stripped it down and cleaned out all the dust and reinitialised via USB, however the machine is still booting up in safe mode. Anyone got any ideas where to look next? From what I’ve read online the PSU maybe the culprit or should I bite the bullet and ship it back to Sony?

New HDD and cleaned out, still won’t boot after the USB Os install? Are you sure your installing the full OS and not just the update? The update is on top of the full OS on the same page, you wouldn’t be the first to make that mistake.
