Re plugging AC adapter wont charge my x220 thinkpad

My thinkpad x220 charges well when AC adapter is connected prior to booting but once the adapter is unplugged and re plugged again, it wont charges anymore unless I do a shut down or sleep?

Reset bios. Restart and try. If not check if you have any bios updates.
