The Motorola Xoom is an Android-based tablet computer by Motorola, introduced at CES 2011 on January 5, 2011. It is the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
Steps 4 and 5 of our Teardown show what appears to be the Wi-Fi module, which would likely be replaced by an LTE-friendly wireless module. As for the "purpose," it's all about being able to use your Xoom on the LTE network.
