Home button connector seems to be broken
Hi fellow fixers,
Sorry for the long text, but I like to give as much info as possible. Also, I am not able to make a photo for clarification purposes.
During the replacement of the battery on my Iphone SE, one of the first steps is opening the Iphone. During this step, I accidentally lifted the display assembly of my phone way too fast. The home button cable assemlby was completely removed from its connector and the bracket holding it was also not in place anymore. Following this i checked the connector on the home button cable and it seemed to be in order. After this I completed the replacement of the battery and had no further issues.
However during reassembly in I am not able to reconnect the connector of the home button to the socket in the Iphone. When I checked the socket inside the phone itself, where the home button connector should connect, it seemed that some pins there were bent out of shape. When I look closely I can see 2 rows of (approximately) 6 very small pins. I assume that these should be perfectly parallel, but the leftmost pins of the bottom row are closer to the top row than the other pins on the same row. This makes me conclude that this connector is bent.
So now on to my questions:
- Is my assumption above correct that this connector is indeed broken? (I am unable to find pictures of the actual connector inside the phone)
- Is there a way to replace this connector myself? I am not able to find a part on Ifixit that contains this connector.
Thanks in advance for your help!
