Why do my gauges jump and lights flicker when applying the break?

I have a 1996 Pontiac firebird base 3.8L. This has been driving me crazy because I cannot for the life of me figure out why my gauges jump and lights flicker when I apply the break or turn on the turn signal. Also a side note my abs inop light and brake lights do come on. Both front hub assemblies have been replaced. Ruling out the wheel speed sensor issue. Can anyone please give me some insight?

Tbh it was more than a PITA. I LEGIT RIPPED APART EVERYTHING! I might as well just replace all of the harnesses in the car so this problem never happens again.

@pontiacae this sounds like an issue with the wiring harness under the dash where the brake light switch etc. enter. Check the harness for any shortened or grounded wires. It’s a bit of a PITA but you will have to rule this out.

Another problem I am having is periodically when I go to start the car it will click like the battery is dead. I'm pretty sure that I have that narrowed down. I have messed with the positive cable and boom power is back. I am pretty sure the harness for the battery/starter/alternator is bad

electrical issue are some of the toughest ones to fix. The troubleshooting seems to take forever :-) Good job narrowing it down.
