My laptop screen froze and nothing else works.

Hello! I recently dropped my laptop from an around ~1-2 foot drop, I picked it up, and it was working fine, but suddenly maybe like an hour later, my keyboard stopped working, my mousepad and mouse were moving the mouse around the monitor so the screen wasn’t frozen. And then after that when I tried to shut it down, the button to power it off didn’t work aswell, and then maybe 5 minutes later my audio cuts out and my mouse stopped working, im guessing the screen froze? So i tried shutting it off again, and i even unplugged it to maybe hopefully make it run out of battery but that didnt work either. Can someone help me out with this?

Hi,

It appears as though something was either damaged or loosened in the laptop, by the fall.

You’ll have to open the laptop and inspect the motherboard for any obvious damage or loose connections.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Dell Inspiron 15-7567 repair guides which may be of some help.

If you do this remember to disconnect the battery from the motherboard (you don’t have to remove it, just disconnect it), as soon as it can be done, before starting on any other work inside the laptop. Even though the laptop is off, with the battery connected, there is still power available at various points on the motherboard and you don’t want to create more problems than you already have if you accidentally slip using tools etc

If you do spot any damage and don’t know what to do, take some pictures and post back here.
