iPod Touch 4G backlight issues

Can you give me some information on how the backlight works on an iPod Touch 4G?

Specifically, could you talk about the coil that (assumingly) controls the backlight, and what can go wrong with that coil? Thanks for your time.

The 4th gen has a backlight coil and ic on the back of the board by the power management ic. Removal and replacement is the same procedure as the iphone 4 backlight coil. You have to remove a part of the shield covering the ic to gain access to it.

I believe that in the 4th gen, there is no coil that controls the backlight. This is what I was lead to believe after a 4th gen I had encountered had a malfunctioning backlight. This unit had water exposure, and after carefully cleaning corrosion from the logic board, the backlight, and iPod itself came back to life. (After a bit of time it stopped turning on completely).
