it wont connect to the internet it have been 1 month and nothing my friends ps3 can is a slim tho i have tried factory restarting it and nothing all im getting in error sign wise is “ps3 access point not detected”
On Network settings go to custom then when you get to Upnp disable this setting! I tried everything the internet offered nothing worked until I disabled this.

Thank you for posting this Mary. This is the only thing that worked and that I hadn't tried myself. Everyone else reading do the same. Custom network settings then disable upnp at one of the last steps and boom the old beast finally connects with no adjustments needed router side. 😎

This can be caused by a bad WiFi chip, software issues or a setting issue.
In most cases (especially with modern AC/AX routers) it’s a network security configuration issue - a lot of modern routers bias towards WPA3 over WPA2 so this stuff will continue to happen -- the wireless hardware Sony used doesn't see WPA3. This issue leaves you with a choice:
If it’s not the network, start with resetting the PS3 back to factory settings, and pray. You may even need to format the PS3, so backup the console first. If it doesn’t fix that way, the WiFi chip is bad.

Probably the wifi chipset is faulty. Recommend buying a new one or sending for repair. Apparently it is not a software problem.

Either the wifi chip is off, or your network is 5g, which PS3 cannot recognize. The solution to either is to connect your PS3 to a router using an Ethernet cable.
Well then maybe you can explain something to me then, I had just moved and gotten internet, being 5g and when I first logged on to my PS3, it had no problem signing in, then out of nowhere it started having issues, and also showing that obtaining ip addresss had failed, then yesterday, i again had no problem signing in to the psn or anything at all, then out of the blue this morning I am having troubles yet again
I’m having the same issue! Even with an Ethernet cable. 4 ps3’s and not one will connect to internet.
Have same problem. There are 4 lines on my cell account. We all get 20 gigs of tethering. There are 2 ps3's and 1 ps4 in my house. My wife's and my son's phone will connect hotspot to the ps3 that is saying no access point detected when I try my phone. My phone will connect hotspot to the ps4 but not ps3. I know the solution sounds easy, just use thier phones or just use the ps4 but they have thier own tether gigs and I dnt play ps4 online. This connection method use to work before cpp cut everybody off from using hotspot. Now they allow it. I spoke to cpp and they told me the access point settings had to be edited which we did, still wont connect hotspot to ps3.
Did anybody ever figure this out? I have the same problem. Took it down to a repair shop and everything connected just fine. But at home my WiFi and network cable don’t work.
I've noticed a lot of people having the same issue with 5g signals being in their house, the ps3 cannot connect to these 5g signals but the ps4 can, my solution to if its a 5g signal is to go into your dashboard on your wifi network and change one to 2.5Ghz, then try to connect your ps3 to the internet if you're still having problems it could possibly be the chip

My ps3 does not see the wifi that i'm using at home. All other devices are connected to that wifi, but ps3 doesn't see it on the wifi list. How can i fix it ?

PS3 will not recognize 5GHz. In Mobile Hotspot temporarily change this to 2.4 GHz and you should get a connection. Work for me!

See if you could buy a 2.5ghz router and hard wire it to your main router, then try connecting it
