iPhone 3GS Connector 7 Removal from Logic Board

I have looked all over the internet for answers on this and even asked a few people. So here goes, I need to remove the connector 7 bezel female piece from the iphone logic board. I need tips on how to desolder it without ripping the solder pads off, and what is the easiest method to reattaching the new one. I have heard of using a small mesh copper wire, i even saw where u could put a small copper wire on the female connection the solder the male part to it but that seemed to have failed for most people. The part is mangled on the logic board, i have a brand new dock assembly making sure the ground was soldered on the right side.. I just need a step my step tutorial or tips or any kind've help on how to remove the connector 7 radio/antenna female piece from the logic board. Someone has had to do this before. Thank you ahead of time for your time and your trouble. There are no youtube video's unless i just wasn't searching for the proper name of the piece. I have seem a few answers on this but they are all very vague and dont really have to do with removing the piece from the logic board.

having never had to do this but knowing the part you mean, I imagine you should just be able to remove it with a soldering iron to heat it. where did you get the female spare part from?

I bought it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie... that is the exact part i have, looks pretty much exactly the same. Yea i have a tiny 25w soldering needle point iron probably going to try a desoldering wick, and lots of patience.

When you're desoldering something that small, sometimes desoldering braid alone isn't enough. The 'best' way to do it is with a hot air rework station, so you can heat up the entire part at once the pull it off with tweezers. The problem with that is that those are expensive. The next best way to do it is to use desoldering braid to remove most of the solder, then heat up one of the pads, and while it's hot, gently slide something like an exacto knife under the part to separate it from the board. Do this with all the pads and the part should come off.

The big trick is to be gentle. If it doesn't work right the first time, just put a little bit of solder back onto the part and use the desoldering braid again.
