Lost a cylinder and white smoke

Hello

I have a 2006 Passat 2.0 fsi.

A while ago, my engine began to runs rough, like 1 of the cylinders didn’t fire.

I had it check a few days later, and when the enginge startet everything ran fine. The mechanic said the rough idling could have been a tiny fault that sometimes just happened, but as for now, the car had no problems. He didn’t notice the white smoke and said it could have been condensation.

As i drove for two weeks the smoke got worse(with the weather gettting colder and higher humidity). Worse even on long drives, and compared to cars around me, none had even close to as much smoke.

I read a few forums and checked the oil cap. It was getting white.

I had it to a mechanic who changed the headgasket and some “rings?” around every cylinder changed too. Very costly..

As I got it back within a short time the smoke came back and it is still worse than before.

3 days ago the engine ran rough again when i tried to start it and the engine light was on.

I havent driven it since and I am currently waiting for the mechanic to answer.

What triggered the rough idling, i think is playing around with the A/C.

First time it happened i changed the direction the air would go in the car.

Second time, my girlfriend increased the airflow.

Inbetween i have tried to press and do everything with the A/C to trigger the rough idling, but nothing happened.
