iMac 2012 WiFi card in Mac Pro 5,1 2009
I’ve purchased adapter (to fit into old WiFi card socket) and sticked it into it iMac 2012 WiFi card and replaced it —— and switched on Mac Pro — just WiFi was detected (even when all 4 antennas were connected randomly (4th antenna used from iMac 2012)
Bluetooth did not work at all (whole module not detected)
I’ve switched Mac Pro off - and….. when I wanted to switch it on it was…. DEAD - just one Red diagnostic LED light flashing on motherboard (5V as I can remember)
I thought power supply died - but thankfully put old WiFi back on (because BT didn’t work anyway) it switch on like nothing happened!!!!
Now the question - I saw in one photo someone is selling such a 2102 WiFi set but it has one extra cable - 2 wires are soldered to adapter(where WiFi card is in) I got such a golden pads (but no wires soldered) and other end goes to…. socket where old BT card was connected (all I saw in this photo - 2 top wires had to be connected - BUT I did not see which way to solder them to that adapter - I do not want to risk electric shock to motherboard and one time I had my heart stopped when Mac did not switch on :(
So two questions:
- How to PROPERLY connect those 2 wires (when imagine adapter is in motherboard and pads are inside - top cable to top pad?
- Does that… power wires (I guess) not connected caused Mac… failure (not switch on)?
Thank You for help
