black lines on screen

i have had a cracked screen for about a mouth may be more and has gotten allot worse and i have gotten a screen protector to stop it getting worse and i cant a ford a screen riper because i going to buy a new phone at the end of the year but there are all of a sudden black lines going down my screen and i cant turn it of cant do anything it is going in to random stuff and doing stuff when i am not even touching it i think it is water damage but is there in think i can do to fix it to make it last t the end of the year please help it would mean a lot to me as i need it for school

well the display is called a digitizer in the digitizer is mercury as the crack get worst the mercury is stating to short out the chip that feeds the digitizer so your kinda screwed digitizers are very hard to change and cost about $15-$30 bucks if you can find a used one of ebay or else where sorry about the bad news good luck

Hmmm…let’s clear things up a little bit. A display is called a display assembly or a screen assembly. It is comprised of the backlight, LCD, Digitizer, Front glass and a few other layers required for proper functioning (polarizing filter etc.). There’s no mercury in the digitizer.

If the front glass is cracked, the LCD should still show an image and the digitizer should still respond to touch. In some cases, if the damage is deep, the digitizer can be affected and if the physical impact was severe enough, the LCD can also be affected. Most screen breakage affects only the front glass.

If you are seeing black lines, then that sounds like the LCD has been damaged and you will have to replace it. Post a picture of the screen and we will be able to say for certain.
