How to change the fuel door

My son broke the fuel door where you fill the gas. I ordered a new fuel doo I removed the star screw but I can’t get the part to come out. ]t seems like the latch where it closes is keeping it from coming out. Does anyone know how to get it out? I’ve looked online and can’t find anything regarding this
