LG Fridge lfxs30766s not cooling after coil cleaning

I have the lfxs30766s model and the freezer and fridge are not cooling. I have unplugged and plugged the unit back in with 33F temp for fridge and -4F temp for Freezer with the Ice Plus ON as recommended by LG and it didn’t work. I have already cleaned the coils. My fridge has a solid state relay (I believe) with an overload capacitor. Capacitor seems OK. I checked the large CAP on the PCB and it’s OK. I removed CON201, verified the voltage the got up to 200VAC, pressed the test button, heard several beeps, but no LED. I then plugged back in the CON201 and restarted the unit and did not see any LEDs. I hear the compressor kicking on and the fan starts. I left the fridge powered overnight and this morning it was still warm in the fridge and freezer. What can I check next?

you can check the compressor for continuity at the 3 pins on the left side of the compressor.

Next check:

Cause 1

Condenser Fan Motor

The condenser fan motor draws air though the condenser coils and over the compressor. If the condenser fan motor is not working properly, the refrigerator won’t cool properly. To determine if the fan motor is defective, first check the fan blade for obstructions. Next, try turning the fan motor blade by hand. If the blade does not spin freely, replace the condenser fan motor. If no obstructions are present and the fan blade spins freely, use a multimeter to test the fan motor for continuity. If the condenser fan motor does not have continuity, replace it.

Cause 2

Evaporator Fan Motor

The evaporator fan motor draws air over the evaporator (cooling) coils and circulates it throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Some refrigerators have more than one evaporator fan motor. On refrigerators with only one evaporator, the evaporator is located in the freezer compartment. If the evaporator fan is not working, it will not circulate the cold air to the refrigerator compartment. If this occurs, the freezer may still get cold, while the refrigerator will not get cold. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor.

UPDATE

Here’s a good video on diagnosing it:

I only see 1 fan when I open the back plate. It's to the left of the coils. This is the condenser fan, correct? to access the evaporator motor and blades, do I have to remove the freezer door and compartments?

See minute 1:54 of the video on the evaporator

I got to the evaporator fan and the blades move fine. There are 3 wires coming from the motor (black, red, purple). There is an additional motor next to the evaporator motor which I assume is the ice machine motor because it has blue blades. I compared the Ohms readings between the different wires from both motors and they were all in the KOhm range. Your note says to see if their continuity, but this a 3 wire motor instead of a 2. I checked the thermistor resistance and it around 8K which I assume is OK because the fridge is not on. Any suggestion on what I should check next? Should I reassemble the freezer assembly and voltages on the Control board?

Did you find the issue? I am having the same problem

I have the same issue, I paid $70 for a repair person to tell me that LG fridge has a design flaw where the tubing for the condenser and pump hang down into the drip tray under the fridge and rusts to the point that it leaks all the freon out of the system. It’s a LG design flaw and they should recall the %#*@ things and repair them. I was quoted $1200 to have it fixed, which after a time the same rusting issue would happen again. Seems a good small claims court problem. I know 3 other folks that have the same fridge and the same issue…
