Hi,
What OS is installed in the laptop?
Can you start the laptop in safe mode to check if the screen works OK?
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and check what its' display is like.

So there is 2 things that you need to cover
either
*the ribbon cable from the display got loose
*or a defective LCD
I hope it works for you!
