Bose revolve + Is Replacing Speaker possible

Is replacing the actual speaker in a Bose SoundLink Revolve+ possible? Or worth the trouble?

Hi @schellem ,

Have you've proved that the actual speaker is at fault (has it been damaged?) or whether it may be an amp or BT problem, before attempting to replace the speaker itself?

e.g. have you connected the audio to the speaker via a stereo audio cable to eliminate the BT as a problem?

Is it in both speakers (L +R) or only one?

Apologies if you've done all this already.

I have not. I appreciate the suggestions! I will check this out, though I’m not sure as to how I can check if it’s one or both speakers. I’ve not disassembled it yet just basing my observations off of the sound whilst using my iPhone via Bluetooth.

Again many thanks

Hi @schellem ,

Kill two birds with one stone.

If possible connect the speaker via a stereo audio cable to the headphone jack of a laptop or home stereo system. (be careful with the Volume level, start low and work up)

That way you can control the audio output to the left and right speakers in your Bose speaker, i.e right speaker only, left speaker only etc. Be careful as the music will sound a bit different as you have lost the sound of the "stereo" channel when doing this, it may sound a bit flat. You are really only trying got prove whether there is distortion etc in the actual sound.

This way also bypasses the BT as it is a purely electrical connection, not an electrical - wireless - electrical connection for the audio from the source to the speaker.

If the Bose speaker doesn't sound OK trying it this way, is it in one speaker only or both?

If in both or even if it is in only the one then you'll have to open the speaker and investigate it further.

If your Bose speaker sounds OK through both speakers (L+R) next try connecting the Bose to another BT music source, e.g. another phone perhaps to eliminate whether your phone "may" be the problem, whether there "may" be a compatibility problem with your phone and the speaker via BT (has it worked OK before with this setup?) or whether there is a problem in the speaker from the BT connection to the amp etc.

Process of elimination I'm afraid.
