white screen of death
Hello,
I have an iPod 2G 2nd generation white a white / blank screen. How can i fix this? I guess there is a problem with the motherboard?

From here "The iPhone and iPod Touch may become completely unresponsive with LCD screen fading away to blank or black. And the gadget device may also does not accept nor respond to any screen taps, and ignoring or not responding to any external buttons pressed. In this total lockout situation, a possible quick solution is to reset the iPhone or iPod."
So my suggestion before replacing anything would be to reset the iPod. You accomplish this by press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo show up on the screen. Keep holding it, sometimes it takes a little longer. This of course will not work if anything happened to the iPod prior to the LCD not functioning. It also does not mean that the LCD will not have to be replaced as Scott Millard suggested, but give this a try first. Good Luck

Karl, try this as well and see. Nothing to lose I guess so no harm done since you already changed the LCD and I am sure you double, no triple checked, your connection etc. Hold the home button then while still holding down the home button hold volume up button then while still holding those buttons go head and hold the power off button and hold that until you see the apple sign
I have more information now. The ipod has waterdagmage. At first the ipod worked. But then the white screen. Also you can restore with itunes. Current firmware is 2.2.1. Also the sound works.
Karl check my answer to this question and see if that might work for you, it's for an iphone but you might have a closer look at your logic board. iPhone feel and have white screen, will not restore!

The LCD has failed. There is not a problem with the main board. Replace the LCD and you will be good as new.

I allready changed the lcd.
I tried your solution but it did not work.
mine broke after unjailbreaking it and it just broke the screen please help i tried all the methods above

Karl, did anything happen to the iPod i.e. fall, water etc? Does iTunes still see it? Does it function or do you have any other issues with it? Did it just happen?

I got it from a friend who asked me to repair it. I think it fell on the ground no signs of waterdammage. Recognized in itunes cant check other functions because of the white screen.
