Wheels not spinning, can anyone help?

The product is actually a Sony wm-b47 but that wasn’t a given option.

After replacing the batteries I tested the product without a cassette in and the wheels spun, then putting in a cassette and retrying they didn’t. After a bit of searching online I tried again, then found the reverse wheel wasn’t spinning at all. I kept spinning and stopping with and without the cassette in and then suddenly both wheels just stopped. I know the motor must be working because the wheels were spinning and I can hear it.

Would be grateful for any help that is given.

Hi,

The player's drive belt (a.k.a film revolver band) may be stretched or broken.

According to this link the WM-B47's mechanism is very similar to the WM-AF48 and apparently a WM-AF48 belt works in the WM-B47.

Here is a link to the ifixit Sony Walkman WM-AF48 Film Revolver Band Replacement guide. which may be of some help in replacing the belt. There are Sony Walkman WM-B47 service manuals available online (for a price) which may show how to open your player and replace the belt. I didn't investigate them further, so I don't know if this is the case or not..

Here is a link to a supplier of the belt.

It is not a recommendation to use them. It is shown to give an idea of the cost of the part. There may be other suppliers online that suit you better. Just search for Sony Walkman WM-AF48 belt to get results. (There were no results when searching for belts for a Sony Walkman WM-B47).

Hopefully this is of some help.
