USB only charges A5 but on Lenovo A6000 it connects PC fine, why?

If the PC is not detecting the phone when you plug it in, then there could be a problem with the USB port in the phone (the data -ve and data +ve connections) or perhaps the USB controller in the phone.

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to check that the USB port enclosure doesn't have lint etc, trapped in it preventing a good connection to the cable plug. If there is debris in there, use a vacuum cleaner to try and suck it out. If it won't dislodge, use a wooden toothpick to gently pry it out. Do not use a metal pin or probe as you don't want to damage the pins or create electrical problems in the phone.

Also check that all the pins are there and they are not bent etc.

If the port looks OK then as the phone has been water damaged in the past, perhaps the circuitry to which the USB port connects to the USB controller has been affected.

The phone will have to be opened and inspected as to what the problem may be.

If the phone is still workable, you may be able to download an app that allows you to transfer files using WiFi, between the phone and PC (if applicable)
