SL510 mousepad freezing and left mouse button unresponsive

The mousepad has some peeling to it and sometimes freezes in the middle of the screen for a small amount of time. Also left click mouse button is no longer responsive although right click is how can I fix this?

Hi @alliet ,

It seems as though the best option is to replace the touchpad and the mouse buttons.

They are an integral part of the laptop's palm rest assembly, so to replace them you will have to replace the entire assembly. (it's not as hard as it sounds)

Here is a link to the service manual for your laptop.

Scroll to p.86 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the palm rest assembly.

On p.187-189 you will find the part numbers (FRU number) for the assembly. Depending on your exact model variant will depend on which part number you need.

Hopefully it may be printed on the underside of your palm rest assembly to make it a bit easier.

Once you have the correct part number for your model laptop, search online using the part number only in the search box to find suppliers of the part.
