Disc tray not opening when button is pressed

Ok so ordered this console on ebay for cheap and the disc drive wont open. It makes the ting noise when you press the button but nothing happens. Have taken the console apart and opened the DVD drive to inspect what's causing the problem. So, when you eject the drive, it does nothing, when you press it again, the disc spins and the laser reads. I originally thought the motor that opens the tray might have been damaged. So i replaced it with the same motor from another console which works, and no luck.

The next thing i attempted was putting an drive from a Phat console into the Slim, powered it on and the drive opened.

Anyone know of this problem and any fixes for it?
