LCD Screen is black on cannon powershot SX420

I just bought a cannon powershot SX420 is. I have a menu screen but the LCD is black.

I can't take any pictures and assuming view any pictures (The lens protector is off)

Hi @sherbear ,

When you say that you can't take any pictures, do you mean that literally or is it that you just haven't tried, just to see what the result is?

Since you have a menu screen, you should be able to set it up in a basic picture mode.

Then if you can, take a picture and then download it to a computer. (I realize that you cannot see what you are taking).

If the downloaded image is black then most probably you have a faulty CCD sensor or a faulty motherboard or both.

You say that you just bought it. Is it new or used and if used did you know of its' condition before you bought it?

You are correct. I contacted Cannon and they said they believe it was the sensor. I did all basic troubleshooting and they said to ship it back since I bought it new.
