Did I get a fake Galaxy S7 LCD from a different store?
I got a replacement LCD/digitizer/glass/front panel kit from a different site. Figured I'd give them a shot, they claimed it was OEM (which I assume meant OEM specs) and the price was right.
I've got it in, and right off the bat, it had a blue-ish tint. Figured it was just a difference between it, and the old S6 I've been using temporarily. So I went to see if I could tweak it. No response from the AMOLED settings, no response from the color level settings. Brightness works. And the resolution is spot on. Figured I'd switch it to 1080p, see if that works. It doesn't. Corrupted image. Which to me means that the panel controller is different from the stock unit.
Anyone know if this could be a bad connection somewhere, or if I can swap more of the original hardware in to drive this thing (assuming the panel itself is identical)? It's not bad looking, but since it's my day to day phone, I don't want to go incommunicado to tear it open after I switch back to it, and I use it in meetings sometimes to demo Gear VR apps, which need to look their best.
