Device won't power on after screen replacement

Hi! I'm relatively new to smartphone repair, but been in IT for years. I've run into an odd issue with a screen replacement on an iPhone 6s.

With the original screen connected, (with no home button) the device powers on and responds to the vibration rocker switch.

I turn the device off, swap in an identical replacement screen from ifixit, (albeit white instead of black, also with no home button) and the device REFUSES to turn on.

Done this about 10 times with the same results, so I'm fairly certain I'm not shorting the phone out with the replacement screen. What could possibly be wrong?

Yep, the device *only* powers on and vibrates when I have the original LCD cable connected. I suspect it may be a damaged connector.

There are 3 total connections, I ordered the full assembly. But the phone refuses to power on with anything other than the original screen display cable. I suspect the connector on the logic board may be damaged...

Try plugging in just the lcd and touch connector (leave the small one to the right off) and see if it comes on. Sometimes the front camera flex can be faulty causing this issue.

Unfortunately I tried every possible arrangement of connections. The only way I ever get the phone to power on is when the original (broken) display connector is attached. With or without the other 2 connectors. If the original display connector isn't attached, it doesn't power on...
