Washing machine stopped mid wash.

Perhaps the breaker tripped? I believe some appliances have their own breaker switch, and it might have tripped off if the washer was drawing too much power. Chech your breaker box (a metal box with switches inside, probably in your basment if you have one) to see if it tripped, or, if you live in an apartment, have some of the maintenance crew check it. I will caution you to be VERY careful around your breaker box. Always be sure to close the box when you're done with it, and never hold a breaker switch open if it's trying to close. It's likely safe, however there are enough amps/volts going through it to mortally injure or kill. If there is any damage/ issue with you box other than a flipped breaker, be sure to call a licensed electrician - they'll know what to do and how to do it safely.
